Watchlists need a desktop-sized window. On a phone the menu marks Watchlist as Soon, although a link someone shared with you still opens there, and Add to watchlist in a ticker’s menu still saves the ticker to your list.
Opening a watchlist
- In the dock. The Watch icon in the dock opens the Watchlist panel next to your content. Like search and Ask AI, the panel can be pinned beside the page, where you can drag its edge to set its width, or left floating, in which case a click outside closes it.
- As a page. Watch in the navigation rail on the left opens your lists full width at
/watchlist, on the list you used last. - On a dashboard. Add the Watchlist widget to any dashboard tab. Each widget remembers which list it shows.
Your first list
Before you sign in, the watchlist shows Favorites, a ready-made list with popular tickers in six market sections. You can browse it, but any change asks you to sign in first, and the sign-in window says what you were about to do. When you sign in for the first time, your account starts with its own copy of Favorites, which is yours to change. Adding a ticker with the star, the right-click menu or drag and drop, creating a list or a section, opening notes and saving a shared list carry on by themselves once you are signed in; the ticker goes to your current list.Adding tickers
- The star. Price list cards and the header of the Price widget carry a star. With one list, it adds or removes the ticker straight away. With several, it opens Add SYMBOL to watchlist, where your lists unfold into sections and a check mark shows where the ticker already is. Click a section to add the ticker there, or click a checked one to take it out.
- The right-click menu. Right-click a ticker, or press and hold it on a phone, and choose Add to watchlist. The menu is there on screener rows, Price list cards (desktop only), search results, ticker pickers, the Ask AI ticker picker and the tickers of news stories.
- Drag and drop. On desktop, drag a screener row or a Price list card by its handle, or drag a ticker chip from the ticker list of an open news story, and drop it onto the watchlist. If the panel is closed, it slides out while you drag and tucks itself away again if you let go elsewhere. Hold a ticker over the tab of another list for a moment to open that list.
- Add symbols. Add symbols to list in the list menu, or + in a section header, opens a search where you can pick several tickers at once. It shows how many places are left in the list.
Lists
- Create. + next to the tabs, + (New watchlist) in the panel header and + New list in the ⋯ watchlist menu create a list named Watchlist, Watchlist 2 and so on, with its name ready to edit. New list in the Add SYMBOL to watchlist window creates such a list and puts the ticker in it straight away. Every new list starts with the six market sections.
- Rename. Double-click the tab or choose Rename. A name can be up to 32 characters long, cannot be empty and must differ from your other lists.
- Delete. Delete removes the list, and Undo brings it back for five seconds. You cannot delete your only list.
- Clear or reset. Clear list empties a list, with Undo. Reset changes puts it back to the six market sections with their original names: your own sections go, and their tickers return to their market sections.
- Limits. You can keep up to 20 watchlists, with up to 500 tickers each. When you reach a limit, the control that would go past it says so.
Sections
Every list starts with Crypto, Stocks, Forex, Commodities, ETF and Indices. An empty market section is shown dimmed, and adding a ticker of that market brings back a market section you had removed.- Add your own. Add section at the bottom of a list creates a section you can name, up to 20 per list.
- Rename or delete any section, including the market ones. Double-click a section name to rename it, or right-click the section header. Deleting a section that still holds tickers asks what should happen to them: move them to their market sections, move them to another section, or delete them along with it.
- Collapse a section to keep a long list tidy.
Columns and rows
Symbol stays pinned on the left, and you can drag its edge to make it wider. In the panel the other columns are Last, Change and Chg %. On the page and in the widget they are Price, Chg% 24h, Volume 24h and Price 1d. The settings button in the header of the actions column lets you show more columns, hide ones you do not need and change their order. The panel, the page and Watchlist widgets each keep their own column layout, shared by all your Watchlist widgets and remembered in this browser. Prices refresh every 30 seconds while the list is on screen. Each row has Open ticker page and Remove from watchlist buttons, and Undo brings back a ticker you removed this way. Right-click a row for Open symbol page, Move to…, Flag, Tags, Add note (Edit note once the ticker has notes) and Remove from watchlist. A ticker that has no data any more is struck through and marked Unavailable.- Flags. Flag marks a ticker with one of eight colours: red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple or pink. A flag belongs to the ticker, so it shows in every list that holds it.
- Tags. Tags puts your own tags on the ticker.
The overview
In the panel, click a row to open an overview of the ticker in a sheet at the bottom of the panel. Click the row again to close it, or press Esc. The sheet shows the price with the market status and a set of widgets that suits the asset: key facts and stats, the price chart, performance and price range, technicals and, where they exist, analyst ratings, earnings, price target, revenue, valuation, dividends, news and links. Open ticker page at the bottom takes you to the full ticker page.- Drag the top edge of the sheet to resize it, and double-click it to return to the default height.
- The … menu holds Explorer, which jumps to any widget of the ticker page (not on commodities), and Appearance, where you choose which widgets the overview shows.
- The Notes tab next to Overview opens your notes on the ticker.
Notes
Notes are short entries you keep on a ticker: why you bought it, what to watch for, the level you are waiting for.- Where to write. Hover a row and click the pencil in the Symbol cell, choose Add note in the row menu, or open the Notes tab of the overview. On a ticker page wide enough to show Explore, the Notes tab beside it holds the same notes.
- Writing. Type into Write a note… and press Ctrl+Enter, or ⌘+Enter on a Mac, or click Send note. Enter on its own starts a new line. A note can be up to 500 characters long, and you can keep up to 50 notes on a ticker.
- Reading. Notes are listed from oldest to newest under Today, Yesterday and earlier dates. A ticker with notes keeps its pencil lit, and hovering it shows the latest note.
- Edit, copy, delete. Each note can be edited, copied or deleted, and a deleted note can be brought back with Undo for five seconds.
Sharing a list
Share in the list menu turns on link access and copies the link: anyone with it can view the list. Once a list is shared, its tab shows a link icon and Share offers Copy link, New link, which replaces the link so the old one stops working, and Stop sharing. Whoever opens the link sees the list read-only, marked Shared watchlist with the date of its last update, and can save their own copy with Duplicate to my watchlists. A guest signs in first, and the copy is made right after. The copy carries the tickers and sections but not your flags or notes. A link that has been turned off says This watchlist is private, and a link to a list that no longer exists says Watchlist not found.Import and export
- Export saves the list as a CSV file named after it, with section, symbol, name, market, exchange, flag and the date each ticker was added.
- Import in the list menu adds tickers from a file to that list. Import list… in the ⋯ watchlist menu next to the title, in the panel, on the page and in the widget, creates a new list named after the file. Export is in both menus.
- Files can be
.csvor.txt, separated by commas, semicolons or tabs, up to 1 MB and 5,000 rows. The importer reads Symbol, Section, Market and Flag columns when they are there, or symbols from the first column otherwise. A report afterwards shows what was added, what was already in the list, which new sections were created, and which symbols were not found, matched more than one market or did not fit the limit.
